Hi All~
I'm looking for some cage recommendations. I'd prefer to hear from people who actually have/had them not just recommended to sites that have cages. Thanks.:)

Here's what I'm looking for... a cage that can comfortably house up to six Budgies, I'm looking for length rather than height, bar spacing no more than 1/2in, easy to clean and prefer black. I'd like to see pics either from a site or your own along with description and what you like about it.
Thanks again!:D

I got this one at pet smart Dr Foster and smith also sells it
I had 6 budgies in it and they were fine, Mine get free run of the house well at the time they did (now they've got one entire room to thierself) so if your going to let them out of the cage often, this is the cage to go for, If NOT then I wouldn't have 6 budgies in it if they get no out of cage time.

The cages i use now are specially made, but Pet smart has similar ones, but they cost way more then I'd ever pay for one

but here's one, This is my cockatiel one, but my budgie one is the same cage only a bit shorter I've got 12 tiels in this cage, I've now put a divider in it so it's 2 cages in one but still both are huge

my budgies cage that matches it houses 13 budgies all at one time and a few tiels too because they all share cages and sleep together since we've moved

I will be interested in the replies as what you describe is what I am looking for too.
Atvchick95, would you happen to know what the size is on the second (black) cage? I don't want (and dont think I could handle) 13 budgies but that one looks like a great size...where do you get the components to specially make a cage like that? I am moving in a few months and hopefully the birds can get more out of cage time in the new place then they do here (too much danger for them here) but I still want to get them a bigger cage when I move.

I have this cage here (http://www.windycityparrot.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=19302242001). I bought it from Windy City Parrot online with free shipping. They also have a cover that specifically fits this cage. I know it is tall but it is also wide and deep. My birds use every inch of it!

It appears they don't have black right at the moment. Many folks sell this cage and Windy City Parrot frequently restocks. Good luck!

This one (http://www.windycityparrot.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=19701061021&Category_Code=Breeding) is ideal! :D I'm always complaining that I don't have room for more birds! lol

Thanks ATV & Mindy.

I like the cage that you have Mindy and the price is reasonable.:)

Does anyone know where to purchase materials to build cages?

I don't know if I'll be able to talk DH into more Budgies in the future, but I'd like a bigger cage either way for Pippin & Kalea. I only want a flock of six...that's not so unreasonable is it? LOL! :D

I just yesterday received the one Mindy recommended (my friend ordered one, too) and I LOVE it! I have the green and it's a dark, forest green. I have 2 tiels in it, but I'm considering putting them in the budgie cage and putting the budgies in there, since the budgies fly and play all over and the tiels just hang out on their perches, eat and chew on toys (plus when I'm home, they spend most of the day out of the cage). I think it'd be great to build your own and put into it all that YOU want in it, but if you decide to puchase one, I'd highly recommend this one!:)

If I get this one I'll get green too (my favorite color). So for those of you who have this cage do you think its roomy enough for six Budgies? I won't be breeding...pets only. I do let my babies out 2-3 times a day from any where between 1-3hrs each time.

I think personally, I wouldn't house any more than 6 budgies. It's good that you'll be giving them out of cage time. :)

I think it's plenty of room for 6 budgies. They'd love it!

I wouldn't want any more than six I gave myself that limit. With DH though I might be lucky to get one or two more.:p

im only looking to get 1 budgie to begin with, and would like to give it the best possable home, but i was thinking having one as large as these ones might make it fell lonely and issolated (i do plan to let it out) hence i was looking for a standard size cage. is this ideal or is bigger really better

Hi Robbie, I know of someone who has a large cage like this with just one budgie and the budgie was very happy! It would also give you room to grow as you add new budgies to the cage. :)

I agree with Mindy. The cage I have is sufficient for two Budgies especially since I take them out several time throughout the day, but I wish I would have gotten a larger cage from the beginning because I do want to add more. Even if I didn't add to my flock I'd still like a bigger cage for the two I have.:) So just be sure to get the right size cage for your Budgie, but if you can afford to go bigger I'd get the biggest cage that you can afford.:)
