i am about to buy a really simple playgym for my budgies - but i plan to make some additions - the pics up here are very inspiring and impressive! i would like to know what parts/features of the playgym do your budgies use the most?

My budgies truthfully like the highest perch on their playground! So I would sugest one with many perches at the top, not one that's just tall with a lot of low perches leading to the top. :)

yeah same my budgies like high perches. Maybe even everyone can post pics of their play gyms so you can get an idea.

i felt like they liked the higher perches - its the same in the cage. most of the pics featuring the budgies in their playpens shows them sitting at the highest perch.

Mine like to sit on the highest perch and play with a long silver chain I attached. They can sit there for hours just jingeling their chain.

Zuc loves his playground because it has so many bright, colorful perches on it. He loves the rope perch and ladder too. :)

Pippin likes the rope perch the best...its the highest. She likes to sit there and preen the cotton strings on either end. She uses the ladder sometimes.

i have made my playgym the only place where millet can be found, so that they get used to their new playgym.

My budgies favourite thing about their play gym is sitting and taking it apart! It's a home made one so I made it by tieing all the peices together with string, they are becoming masterful knot undo-ers! They will sit for hours quietly undoing the knots together (which I have to now retie every evening).

Ours is a tripple decker made with different size branches, and several wood swings. They love to climb up and down the levels by the ropes attached to them. They'll swing around, and upside down on the ropes (funny). Oh and the swings, sometimes you can't get them off. Next to the playground is a large (shallow) dish with water. Two of them will go in there to take a bath, the other 3 don't like it but will stand by and watch them play in the water until they're done. They also enjoy chipping away at the wood branches. Oh, and on the floor we have cardboard that we use as a potty. When it's first layed down they bite the edges off I guess to put their mark on it :) They can be entertained by just about anything.

Snowball likes the smaller cow-bell on his. It entertains him for hours. So does the big shiny toy I attatched to the rope portion of the gym.

They like the highest perch, play on the swing, and here in this photo is Kitty sitting on the rope. :)

Remember, the highest branch doesn't need to be high. Just "highest".

Our play gym is only small, about a foot square in the base and about 2 feet high, so we carry it from room to room. During the day it sits on a stool, at night it sits on the floor. Mostly we leave it in the sunny bathroom but in summer we may need to persuade the budgies to hang around somewhere else, that bathroom will get very hot. But we've had the play gym on the dining table, on the kitchen bench, on various small tables and stools, beside the washing machine - and they know it wherever it is.

Features they like best - the fresh flowers I put in the vase for them to chew, and the sticks I cut from the branches outside to give them extra twigs and small perches to play acrobat on and to chew. I have put a red claw-footed plastic bird bath on the base and we fill that every morning. We refill it when they've emptied it or dirtied it (usually with bits they've chewed off the branches). I like the bathtub, but we might need to change it to a more practical one that holds more water. A bathtub with room for two, because this one is barely big enough for one.

We keep putting different things there, I just hung a plastic slinky toy on the play gym but Buddy right now won't go near it. I'm hoping he will be OK with it in a little while.

Well, Lucky likes he highest perch, Buddy likes the swing, Piggy likes the bell and usually fights for it from snowflake. So they each seem to have their own interests. They do seem to like it when I add little extras like a millet spray or a foot toy "cookie" or other foot toy around the bottom. They also like untying knots or else just chewing through them if the rope is thin enough.

What Strider likes best about his "play gym" is that it belongs to Coco! He takes the highest perch position and then just sits there and preens.... :D
