My brother is going off to college in a year and if he needs a dorm then i get his bedroom which has a walking closet (sort of) . I get to have his room and then my mom said that maybe i can turn the closet (it has light in there...not a lamp but see next quote thing) into a birdy room where i will keep the cage and stuff with thick ropes going from the walls. ( if i keep the closet door open then let the birds out, they can fly in and out of the closet (birdy room) whenever they want! They will be out whenever i am in the room.......(thats like always) .....
but the reason i will have ropes is because i will get google's wings clipped because it takes atleast 45 minutes to catch him:eek: ! So i am taking googles to my avian vet sometime in 3 weeks because we are very busy. I am going to watch my avian vet do it so i can learn , because 2 of my birds (Tiki and Mika) are trained, but my other 2 (Googles and Baby) arent, so they wont let me get near them! its about $20 to get 1 birds wings clipped, and i am trying to save money for my trip next year to Poland!!! Its hard because i am getting my friend a budgie and cage for her b-day so that will only cost about $40 + $20 for wing clipping...

if u have any info plz help me

You could probably clip your bird's wings yourself and save some money. Perhaps your library has books on budgies and/or other cage birds. Most of the pet/bird info books have a section on clipping wings. It is easy to do. You might be nervous at first but you'll quickly become an expert....AND save a lot of money.

It's really quite easy to do. Look in book to show you how and have someone else hold the bird the first few times so you can really concentrate on what you're doing. If you are not sure how much to cut, just cut less than you think you should. You WILL be an expert in no time. Just remember, cutting feathers is sort of like cutting your fingernails...it doesn't hurt them at all as long as you don't cut into the base of the feather. You can wrap your sweetie in a bath towel to prevent him from biting the holder and just sneak the wings out the side. Be gentle and it should be fine.

When clipping your budgie's wings, you also need to watch out for blood feathers (feathers with blood in the shaft). Those feathers are new feathers that have not matured yet and should NEVER be cut or your sweety could bleed to death. I recommend you watch someone who is experienced clip the wings first, then you could possibly give it a try yourself if you feel comfortable. ;)

I clipped mika's wings today by letting her stand on my hand and cutting a little bit of the tips and after everytime i saw how much she can fly...no blood....and she can still fly a little

Tiki<3Polly I hope you don't mind me asking but how old are you? If you're in school then it can be difficult what I was about to suggest and again it depends on age.

I was going to suggest that you could do some spare jobs in your time like a paper round or pet sitting or many other things.

Also I was thinking maybe your vet could take installments but I think they may only do that if the cost of the vet bill is high! :o
