View Full Version : Question about albino's coloring
Our albino boy used to be more white, almost pure white with just a bit of yellow cast. Now, after his first molt, he is more yellow. Does this happen often with albino birds? Just wondering if this is perfectly normal.
I also would like to show you how pretty the color of his rump is. It is not showing a lot to a naked eye, but in the pics looks very pretty. I guess the camera enhances that neon blue/green coloring.

Wow! Is that ever interesting! I am not sure what to say about the colouring as I have never had an albino budgie myself. I just assumed that albino's were pure white with red eyes.....

Albinos can be yellowfaces to. And when they are yellofaces type II, the whole plumage looks yellowish.
So your bird is perfectly normal. :)

Yes that will happens with the golden face mutation, the yellow "bleeds" into the body color with each molt.

would it be considered a creamino?? instead of a albino
Budgiekin, I also thought that albino w/ red eyes would be pure white or white with yellow cast on the head (like mine was when I bought him), so I was surprised to see more yellow after the first molt.
I did some reading and found out that indeed yellowface albino budgie becomes more yellow after the first molt, which is exactly what Lemonade and Kerry said. Thank you.
atvchick, based on what I have read, yellowface albino is also called creamino. :)
Thanks everyone for your help. Again, I have learned something new today.
