View Full Version : Cage number 1, 2, 3 or 4?!?
Ok, after visiting almost every site in the world wide web that sells cages and ships them to either the UK or Cyprus I've finally narrowed it down to 4 cages...

3 & 4 are bigger but I was wondering if they would be too big with Sunni being unable to fly. Also it must be big enough for 2 budgies. Tell me what you think and thanks for voting! :)

I have your number 3/4 cage but mine is purple I got it at a bird fair for 20.00 and I love it i've had 6 budgies in it at one time ( including BELLE) but mine only sleep/eat/ in it it
right now its got a nest box attached with 4 birds in it, and they're all fine even when there was 6 in it with perches, swing, some toys they had enough room

I quite like cage number one as i like the idea of putting the perch on the top when they're out. It certainly looks big enough for two

Bigger is always better. It is more important that the cage is long rather than high. Budgies tend to stay as high as possible:) In a longer cage they can get more exercise.
Darker bars are better than white because it is easier on their eyes and they can look out better.
Cage 3 and 4 would be my choice, even better if you could get one in black.
I have a cage like no. 1. If the birds are in the cage and I open the top, my birds get scared. If I want the cage closed, I have to close the top. That is not very practical. I am looking for a way to close off the opening without having to take down the top part.

You can get it in black but I'm not too keen on it. I might though if you say it's better for their eyes.
I just noticed that at the bottom of the cage there is more wire rather than a solid bottom. Would this be a problem?

I like and have cage 3, with two budgies in it. I agree longer the better.
Cages 1 and 2 are two small for 2 budgies.

No, that is not a problem. Some people prefer it, since the poop falls right through into the tray which you then pull out to clean.
My cage has that and I use newspaper to cover the wire at the bottom. My birds don't like to walk on the metal. Either way is fine.

Thanks Sigrid. I was wondering if it hurt their feet but I guess I can put something over it. Thanks again.

Cages three and four are the better choices. You can always set a play area on top. It would be a lot of trouble to get those with play-tops and try to hang toys, swings, etc. from that area. They'd have to be removed to open up the top.
I sell cage #3 and it comes in 24" and 30" wide..........I use the widest one myself, even for just one or two birds. By the time I'm finished installing all the toys, swings, etc. I still wish the cages were bigger!!!!!

Interior space, cage 1 is bigger (cage 2 wont load for me) BUT i picked cage 3, its a bit smaller, but the lenth makes up for it. I have 3 the same, but in 18x18x30, i use them breeding and quarantine.
Wire on the bottom will be fine. Cage 1 also doesn't have the bar spacing, its listed for 'tiels, this makes me think the bar spacing is bigger than 1/2"

I've never heard of a white cage hurting birds eyes, my quaker has been in a white cage for 12 years and his eyes are fine.
The cage I bought before your number 3 was white - and my budgies are fine.

I like white cages better than dark cages! But my sennie has a black cage, and my conure has a grey cage, but other conure had a white cage, my 1 keet has a white cage, the other two have a white & blue cage. None of them have eye problems. This is most likely one of those myths.

I've never heard or read this before either. I've always had white cages (for 20+ years) and only recently bought dark ones, just for a change for me! LOL They have always had no problems with vision.
Maybe it doesn't matter then! I'm not too keen on the black on, as I've said, and I really like both the white & blue one. You can get it in pink aswell but it's too bright for me! :p

They are all wonderful cages. My favourite cages are number 2 and 3, but I voted for number 3.
I like #3 because of its size, shape, big front door, and white color but there might be a small problem with this cage: There is hardly any plastic bottom and all the seed hulls and loose feathers will be on the floor.
I like #2 also but I can't figure out how big is the front door. If it is small, I would not want it.

Birds just show up better in a black cage when we humans are looking in! I use black at bird marts/sales. I prefer white at home cause dust doesn't show!
Interesting that birds show up better in black cages. I would never expect this.
Personally, I always go for white cages, just look prettier in my opinion.
