Hello, I've had my bird Kiwi since Friday. I have tried to get up my birds confidence by whistling and talking to him. then today, a light seemed to come on, and all of a sudden, while I was whistling to him, he started jumping around his cage chirping suddenly. Now that I am this far with taming him, I was wondering if anyone knew how to train a bird to step on your finger when outside the cage. When I try to get the bird on my finger, he jumps away from it. Any ideas?:budgie:

When he is out of his cage, try and get him to sit on top of his cage. This is where he will usually fly to when out.
Place a piece of millet in between your fingers and move your hand slowly towards him. The millet will tempt him to sit on your hand.
Or when moving hand slowly towards him, hold your hand against his breast and gently push your hand up. He should then lift his feet on your hand. Do this until he has 2 feet on your hand then begin to move away from the cage.
Hope this helps! Keep us updated please! Anyone else have any different ideas?

Thanks, I'll try that. First I'll try to get up his confidence and hand feed him
