I don't know what to cover my budgies cage with at night; i want to make sure it's dark enough for him and that he can breathe fine. Help would be appreciated. Thank you :budgie: :D

I use a white flat bed sheet. It works pretty good to keep them warm, but breaths, cause it's cotton. :)

I use plain sheets on the bigger cages, and my kids blankets that've out grown on the smaller cages

I use a sheetlike type of material. I try never to cover with something like a towel that has loops that their nails could get hooked into.

yep, a sheet works great and it is easy to wash.

Yep, I use a sheet as well. :)
It was an old one from my bed that I had already cut up to put over my ugly-looking shelves, so I cut another piece to cover the cage with.
My grandmother used an old baby blanket of mine with her tiel, Pretty Bird (RIP), though, so I guess things like that would work equally fine, long as they cant get their nails stuck in it. :)

I also use a thin white cotton sheet for Billie's cage.
For me, it is light and allows air into his cage, and easy to clean. :)

I use either a dark red or a brown sheet single layer. If I use a white sheet, I double layer it to further reduce light. NEVER use a towel. If they don't get their nails caught in the material, they will pick the thread loops and possibly hang themselves. (I've seen this happen. A friend of mine kept some of my keets at his house while I was out of town once and he covered them with a towel.)
