So, While i was in California over thanksgiving my buddy Sampson passed. Apparently everything was normal when it happened. I had a friend checking in on him 3 times a day and one day he was just dead. Fresh food and water daily. He just...died. Would you let me know if there are any reasons for sudden death in budgies??
Thanks
-Felipe

First off - I'm sorry to hear about Sampson :-(
Secondly - there could be many reasons of why, Could of been stress related , could of been he was already sick but didn't show signs until it was to late

Birds hide their illness, Some never show it - they just go to sleep and don't wake back up some by the time they do show it it's too late to get proper care to make them better

about the only way you'll know for sure would be to get a autospy ( they call it something different for birds) done on him though

I'm so sorry. RIP Sampson.

It is called a neocropsy, and that is how you can tell.

They do hide their illness, or it could have been stress.

Where is the best place to get a neocropsy done? And also, I have a Petco and a Petsmart near me...Where is the best place to buy a young budgie. I want to train and have my new budgie eating vegetables at a young age. Are both pretty reputable? I don't think that I have any breeders here in Prescott. Thanks yall Felipe

I believe the vet does the neocropsy

I've gotten nice Birds from Petsmart ( i don't have a petco near me) but to get one that isn't "wild" off the bat your best bet is to buy one thats been handled by humans The ones at Petsmart, and other pet shops can be tamed down, but some take longer then others, and sometimes you can even get lucky and get one that doesn't have those "wild" tendacies

now since Budgies can be shipped through the mail and Not just by plane you may be able to find some on line
I go to these websites most often and I always ask for pics - even if they've got pics i'll ask for more, or clearer ones

www.hoobly.com (http://www.hoobly.com)
www.upatsix.com (http://www.upatsix.com)
www.adpost.com (http://www.adpost.com)

and I also put in the search bar "budgie parakeets for sale (your area here)
I go with my entire state, because If i go by my town, state i don't get as many hits - but I don't live in a huge town, Not sure how big Prescott is you may want to try it both ways

there's also a site you can look up Breeders its at (I belived they have classifeds on it also)

www.birdbreeders.com (http://www.birdbreeders.com)

I'm very sorry about your loss. It must have been a shock to find him gone when you returned. I hope you can find another special Budgie to enjoy.

I have bought 13 of my 14 Budgies at Petco. The other one was at Petsmart. In our area I prefer Petco. My Budgie from Petsmart won't let me get near it. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the store though.

Let us know if you find another new little friend so we can share in your joy.

RIP Sampson. :(
