Several ways. You seem to have a successful way right now and it is fun to watch the little critters in the shower. The shower, a misting bottle or a bird bath in the form of a dish or one of the hang-on-the-front-of- the-cage types. I use a flower pot saucer in my outdoor aviary. Or, I turn on the garden hose to a mist setting and spray them. They love it.
I take one or two birds in the bathroom with me each day when I take my shower. I put them on the perch above the sink, but if they want to get into the shower, they'll hover around until I get the hint and let them in.
I often fill up the sink with a little bit of warm water and hold her over it to get some water in my hand and wet her a little till she is all wet XD somtimes she gets in the water, (course its not deep enough for her to drown or anyhting) And often i just take a spray bottle on hot days and give her a few sprays to help her clean her self. I either take snowy in a little cage outside and spray him with the hose on really low or take him in the shower....he loves both.

I have a double sink in the kitchen. I would turn the tap water on and make sure the water is tepid and let it run on the center piece of the double sink. I would also put a dish cloth on the center of the double sink so that my budgie wouldn't slip on the surface. My budgie would run up and down under the tap water. Having a great time.

Or sometimes I put really wet kale (or any green, leafy veggie) in their bath house that's attached to the front of their cage. They go for that in a big way!
