Oh my god! I cant beleive your brother would do such a thing! I wish i hadn't read this post now as its made me sad and a little bit mad too! cant you get your bird put somewhere else? Apart from the fact that your poor little budgie has got tiny little lungs and cant cope with smoke being blown in its face! Its probably been traumatised by being grabbed!

That is cruelty I would be reporting him to the authorities brother or not.

The birds lungs are so tiny that any sort of smoke can do irreputable damage.

It's not the fire that usually kills animals in a bush fire it is the smoke that does and that is on a large scale.

The amount of smoke your brother was blowing into your poor budgies face the poor
thing must of been real stressed.

Put him in his cage somewhere nice and quiet for a couple of days away from your brother and keep an eye on him. Give him plenty of clean water and fresh green celery leaves and seed and extra attention.

If you share a room with your brother lay down some ground rules, if you have a room by yourself keep itlocked and tellhim he is not allowed in there while your not around you have to safe guard your bird.

As you can see I am angry not at you but at the irresponibility of your brother and the effects that weed has on peoples' sensibility and I speak with authority as I had a son who had physcosis becos of that drug. Lucky he was able to get help and he has now been clean for the past 8 years.

Good luck

Yes, budgie lungs are very susceptible irritants like smoke. You will need to make sure that this does not happen again. The long term effects could be quite serious...on a relatively small scale, exposure to smoke of any kind would likely cause sneezing, sinusitis, nasal discharge and eye irritation. On a more serious note, respiratory infection or possibly even death could result. And who knows what effect the weed would have on your sweety in terms of "getting high". :(

:( Poor budge!
Definately keep a close eye on him, and make sure your brother realises that what he did is ANIMAL CRUELTY.
Give your budgie some TLC and hope his lungs aren't too affected.
Make sure this doesn't happen again, it'll be sad for him to go that way.

Good Luck

yes cannabis is illegal but thats not the topic im worried about
my brother and the whole US it seems smokes weed so its nothing new
plus i rather smoke weed than cigs but thats just my preferance
on to my baby keet and my brother, i have laid down some laws and some consequences for playing/hurting my bird
i jus hope hes alright and no damage has been done cause i want this budgie for a long time
thanks on all the comments and my keet is doin a lil better today after her scary experience yesterday
shes got new water n veggies to eat today so i jus hope shes alright

I'm not to surprised.... My keet was acting a little funny when around marijuana smoke but the joke was all over when the tinest amount of cocaine was given to him. He was flying so irratic, into walls and windows, so fast i didn't know what to do. I grabed him to calm him down but i think he had heart failure cuz he just floped dead in my arms.

Tell your bro to not at least bake him in a closed area, or at least to try to keep other drugs such as the white stuff or lsd away from him to as that will result in insta-death.

well, weed duzznt really affect humans alot i mean unless they have alot, its not a very addictiong drug and its one of the less dangerious drugs but it is illegal.however all kind s of smokes and stuff is very harmful to budgies, or anybird or any animals, or humans sumtimes.i would make sure that your brother duzznt go into your room! or atleast when hes smoking that is.its so sad that your budgie died because of your brother.if you really wanted to get bak at him u cud report him...but i dunno if thats how you wanna play it. anyway so sorrey to hear about your budgie!make sure you remember smoke is deadly to birds especially since ther small so i would make sure keep your brother or anyone else who smokes awayfrom your birds while ther smoking.
