I have gimp and I've been trying to make myself a sig but every time i try to make the bird smaller the whole background gets smaller, does anyone know how to just make the bird smaller on gimp?

create a new document, paste the bird then resize the image... after that copy the resized bird and then paste it into the background signature thingy...

I tied that but It just went back to regular size when I put it on the new size

With gimp you have to think more in terms of "selected areas" if you want just 1 part to resize then you select just that part and resize it, selecting nothing is an implicit everything.
