Hey everyone,

I have 3 new kids to add to the clan that have come out of quarantine today!!! Yah their new friends were so happy to meet them after hearing them chirping away from a distance for so long.

I need a little help though :S I have always wanted a pair of white and now i do!! v:D . When i bought them from the breeder her explained to me which was the male and which the female, but of course on the drive home they wouldnt stay till and now i dont know which is which! They are still young and i know that his cere will not turn blue, but i am not sure how to tell them apart at this time - hopefully someone can explain it to me here.

So first up i think :o is Angel (obviously the girl). I called her Angel because she is all white and i went with the wings halo scenario.

Next is Casper - yep as in the friendly ghost - i scare myself sometimes with these unimaginative names!!

The two of them together....

not good at this but my guess for the 2nd bird is female, YF2 Ress. Pied? Is that even a mutation? Im tring to figure why she looks ress. pied but with the yellow and blue insted of the norm, yellow and green.?.?.? Im confuddled also! Good luck what ever they are their VERY pretty.!

my albino is named casper :)

Anyway i have read Albino's are sex linked, and the way i understand Sex linked mutations are this,. only the females will look like the said mution the boys will be split too albino

I'm not a pro at mutations i'm just learning, But i've read it about Albinos and Luntinos and a few others

It looks as though you have it in the right order in the photo's, you can buy split rings from petstores or on line, watch the behaviour of both birds now they are all together and watch for the one that shows MALE behaviours then chuck one of the split rings on the male, sorry that I couldnt be any more help. The second looks like a recessive pied and a stunning one at that.

i was thinking recessive pied also, but ive never seen a rec. pied Yellow with Blue on the belly. Thats why i was thinking maybe split for yellowface type 2 which would make the Yellow/green pied to yellow/blue cause the yf2 turns the green to a aqua blue, giving it yellow/blue instead of the norm yellow/green. Am i on the right track here ? lol. Stunning birds either way!

Is it just the photos or does Casper have a splash of blue on his tummy and tail?

The other hen is a yf2 cobalt recessive pied. :)

Yup, but not split for yf2, she is a yf2. Think of a yf2 normal and how their face is yellow and then the colour bleeds into the blue feathers making them greenish. A recessive pied might not have the colour all over for the yf gene to change, but the yellow will still bleed down causing the yellow body colour but leaving blue feathers. :D

I noticed that in the photo as well Bea - its just the photo though, he is definitely all white - well except for the small black mark on his tail that i have put there to help me tell them apart until i get to know their personalities.
