I am sure the just need time to settle in. I was really worried a few days ago when I first purchased my sugars. They sat on their perches and didn't do much. I never saw them eat or drink, come to think of it I still haven't really seen them drink. But, I know they do because I have been watching then eat. So, you know they are drinking, lol. Anyway, I am sure they're just freaked and need time to chill. How long have you had them now?? I have read lots of stuff thats says they are extremely good at hiding an illiness. Good luck and welcome to the forum!

They need to have time to get to know each other and bond. I think I'd take out the nesting box for now, until they show signs of bonding and breeding. The box might be extra stress they don't need.

The very first thing to do is for you to stop stressing.

You have only had them for a short time, so like everything else this is all new to them and they need time to adjust to you and their new surroundings. Give them time and they become very boisterous and you have the best of times with them.

Take the nest box out as they are far too young too breed.
Females should at least be12mths old before breeding and they must be in top breeding condition. I don't breed my females until they are at least 14 to 16 mths old as I have found they are able to cope with a clutch of eggs and hatchlings at that age.

Males can breed at around 10mths but then again I don't until they are 12mths old again this is a personal choice.

So sit back and enjoy your beautiful birds and get on the net and research all you can about them before you even start thinking of breeding

Hi. Welcome to the site. If the birds will eat out of your hand, then it seems they are pretty comfortable with you. That's a good start. Someone else already told you to take the nestbox out because they're too young. I agree. Also make sure to put their cage in a place where they won't get even the slightest, little breeze. That's really important. Fresh food and water every day. (Wash their dishes every day.) Make sure they get plenty of sleep. (I like to cover my birds at night.) Those are the very, very, basics that every new bird owner should take care of. Then I recommend you find a vet who treats birds. And then, you can relax and enjoy learning all you can about your new pets. You found a great resource here, plus there's everything else the computer has to offer, as well as books, pet stores, friends, vets, etc. Congratulations on your new darlings. With a little effort they should be fine and you are off on a wonderful adventure! I wish you luck. Don't hesitate to post when you need help!! :)
