:budgie: We have just come back from holiday. Bluey has returned home from his temp house. He is moulting. He always does this after moving house. Anyone know why?

Hmmm...budgies can moult pretty frequently and when they are under a bit of stress. So how often has your sweety been moulting?

He moults quite often and always after he has been on holiday - about 4 or 5 times a year plus times at home in between. It doesn't seem to bother him as he is always chirping and shouting when he wants his food hopper tapped to let some more seed down. He loves his mirror.

I've had budgies that have moulted very frequently. Apollo did and even Kiwi and Aries seem to be in a perpetual moult. Skyla on the other hand, hardly ever moults!! As long as he is healthy otherwise, he should be fine. Just keep in mind that budgies require extra sources of protein when they are moulting as that is the building block for regenerating new feathers. Egg bread, crushed up egg shells with egg are both good sources of protein.

Bert used to moult every so often whereas Green hardly ever moulted!
