I'm on the lookout for a bigger cage for my budgie, Billy, so's I can get him a feathered companion, but just can't find one that comes with its own stand. His present cage sits on an old oak tea trolley (the sort your granny used to serve afternoon tea on!) and whilst this is ideal for a one-bird cage, it's just too small for a two-bird cage.

I've searched all the local pet stores and whilst some of them stock a very good selection of cages, they don't do matching stands. I can accept that a pet shop may not have room to display stands as well as cages, but what annoys me is that the petshops don't seem able to order a matching stand for a larger cage for me!! No point in getting a bigger birdcage if I can't find a stand to sit the cage on, is there?

Has anyone else had this problem when looking for a cage stand, and how did you overcome it?:budgie:

I am not sure if you have a pet smart where you live, but if you go to www.petsmart.com (http://www.petsmart.com) and click on Birds, then cages they have a section you can click on that says Cages & Stands, MOST of the cages in that section have a stand, some you pay for seperataly, and they also have single stands, So say you bought an all white cage w/out a stand, they may have the correct stand size for the cage you bought and i've seen stands mainly only in white on their website, but they may come in other colors

or even try E-Bay

most small pet shops ( that aren't huge chain pet shops like Pet smart and Pet Co etc. ) normally dont carry everything you need and it stinks, or at least here it does because then I end up having to go to several stores to get the hand full of things I needed

This is the type cage I prefer--it's 32x20x59 overall height:

Wow, so similar to my cage, mine is slightly larger in that it is 32 x 24 x 62, but it is almost identical! Don't know about England but in Canada and US, there are lots of avenues of finding these cages with stands. Putting it together by the instructions was a scream though. Just figured it out by myself. My birds love it, I have six in there and they have plenty of room.

Ebay is a great place to find those sort of cages here in the Uk. There are also a couple of websites I have seen them on. If you want me to pm you with the addresses, just let me know.

I bought several on eBay for $100 including shipping but that's been over a year ago.
