My main hobby is probably bowling. After that, it's creating and maintaining my websites. They both take up a lot of time. :)

I have lots of hobbies. I collect movies. I collect stamps. I collect CDs of all kinds of music. I read a lot. Love to go to the beach whenever possible. Bike riding. My main hobby, I think, is travel. My wife and I try to combine our love of music, and Opera in particular, into our travel plans. New York for the Metropolitan, of course. Buenos Aires for Teatro Colon whenever possible.

We especially like to travel in South America. Last year went to Montevideo and Colonia, Uruguay. Then to Buenos Aires and on to Mendoza for some wonderful wine country tours and High Andes tours. Back to Buenos Aires and on to Mar del Plata for a little fun and sun on the South Atlantic.

Our best trip, however, was about six months before the above mentioned one. We went to La Paz, Bolivia. Then, at my wife's insistance, to Copacabana, Bolivia. Right on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Then, on to Puno, Peru to see the floating islands in the lake. Then, on to Cuzco, Peru over a road that was over 14,500 feet in altitude at one point. From Cuzco we went to Macchu Picchu, of course. Then to Lima/Miraflores for a few days and, finally, exhausted but exhillarated beyond belief, home to Miami. We were totally on our own. No planned group tours till we got there. And what a trip it was! We'll NEVER be able to duplicate the excitement of that trip!

We're off to Merida, Mexico next week. I'm hoping to take my wife to Paris in October. She's never been there. (I'd really rather go back to Buenos Aires! It is Paris with a Latin American flavor and wonderful, fantastic steaks. :-) )

I have a few interests. My main passions are scrapbooking, gardening and computing (digital imaging, web design etc).

Here are some of my budgie scrapbooking layouts that I am almost finished (I just have to add the journaling part):

As well, since I love to garden (particularly indoors), I thought it would be appropriate to show you some of my pictures of my favourite plants that I have (or HAVE had):

Wow! You sure love computer graphics! And gardening! Don't let your budgies near that Calla Lily!

Hi Billy and Lily. Yes, you are absolutely right, calla lilies ARE bad for budgies! I have many plants that are poisonous so I am very careful about where I put my plants in the house. My budgies aren't allowed near them!

I'm glad you mentioned that for other people in case they are not aware that this can be a potential hazard.

I LOVE scrapbooking. The only thing I don't really like about it is that it can get kind of expensive! The embellishments are what really takes a toll on the pocketbook. :p

I love animals to.
I'd like to be a vet specializing in horses and birds.
I love helping animals and saving their lives, I'd hate to put one down but you have to put them out of pain sometimes.

Amy

Really?, expensive? I don't know how but I've only spent £2 so far!

Budgiekin

Scrapbooking can get expensive when you buy things like snaps, eyelets, textured paper, fibers to attach to your pages, lettering, stamps, ink, chalks, paints, scrapbooks, adhesives, cutters, . . . the list goes on!

Oh well, I get a fortnightly magazine that comes with something free every time, things like in your list.

I have a big scrapbook that my Dad bought me for christmas, because I was going to start then but I kinda forgot about it!

And at home Because me and my Mum are quite artistic I have lots of different paper, drawing materials and so on.

And the thing I've spent £2 on is some saddle soap! For my saddle in my collection and to make the sheets look shadowed / old / coloured / weird / different!

i haven't relly tried scrapbooking. is it fun? i really need a hobbie. got any ideas?

If you like artistic/crafty stuff and working with photos, then scrapbooking can be really fun. It is amazing some of the layouts and designs you can come up with to showcase your favourite photos. You don't have to be that creative either since there are so many magazines, books and websites with ideas already. All you would have to do is "scraplift" (copy someone else's design idea).

Do you consider yourself to be crafty? Sporty? Bookwormy? Computer geeky? Any of the above or none of the above?

However I may try, I am definitly not an artistic person. And I am not a geek! I have lots of friends and plenty respect. As for the bookworm  Lol. Try and find someone who knows me who says I'm not! Do you consider reading the Harry Potter series 10 times in a row in 2 months being a bookworm? (This was before the 6th book came out) How about reading the Chronicles of Narnia in a week? Or maybe reading The Series of Unfortunate Events twice in 6 weeks. (Before the book number 12) OK. I think I've made my point. I am a bookworm. does reading count as a hobby? If it does, I am plenty good at it.

Budgiekin

Of course reading counts as a hobby! :) Not all hobbies have to do with other people, or with crafty things. I'm impressed with all that reading you have done. I don't even read that much!

Amy

I'm a bookworm to!

Dave
03-24-2006, 02:52 PM
I wouldn't call myself a bookworm, but I do enjoy reading, unlike most people I know. Michael Crichton's my favorite author, in case you're interested.

Amy

Never heard of him!

Dave

His most famous book was probably Jurassic Park (which was turned into a movie). If you've ever heard of that, or seen the movie, that's him.

I love Michael Crichton. He is actually one of the producers on the television show E.R. I used to love that show. (But not so much anymore. . . )

Amy
03-24-2006, 03:42 PM
Oh I didn't know he wrote those! I've heard of them both! I know who he is now.

Dave

I've never watched E.R., but it sounds interesting. My favorite Crichton book is Disclosure. That was a movie as well, with Michael Douglas and Demi Moore.
