What is this so called "english budgie" and how can you tell the difference between it and the regular type?

English budgies are usually quite a bit larger than their American counterparts. They are pretty easily identified by their fluffier feathers, especially on the tops of their heads. They often have very distinct and larger spots too. This is because they are bred for size and for showing purposes.

The easiest way for me personally to tell the differnce is thier Head one has a "bush" on thier head and the normal ones dont - it's just easier for me that way , because most of the time in pictures i can't tell which is the bigger one LOL

hope that helped ya out :)

I always think an English budgie sort of looks like a little old man with sort of a smashed looking face. My Spice is an Engish and I love him to pieces!!!!

The English budgie was orginally bred for show and the "american" (regular) budgie was bred for pets, but now Englishs are pets and normals are shows etc.

The English is quite a bit larger, with a large puffy forehead. They are said to be mellow, but all birds have their own individual personalities. The only drawback to the English is that it doesn't live as long as the regular.

The normal budgie is called the "American Budgie" but that is silly because they are Austrailian. In fact more and more people are rebelling against the name "American Budgie" and calling them "Austrailian Budgies".
