I have 4 females, I thought I had all males when I bought them LOL! Oh well anyways right now they are all in one cage but I have 2 side by side and I sometimes have to seperate Jessie and Sky will go with her into the other cage but they have been playin nice for a few days. Sometimes it just depends on what cage they are in when its time to close the doors cause I have to go somewhere then they are wherever they are. Jessie is my little bully usually over a toy or the food dish when she is hungry.

4 males in one cage. they all get along together. I did have 3 males 1 female and that was a disaster - she was sooo nasty to the boys. (when I picked her up, I thought with the store lights that she was a he).

All in one cage- 4 males and 4 females.
They get along perfect! I couldn't have asked for better behaved budgies..lol
I've got 2 males in one cage. :)
5 males in one flight cage. They get along well.
This is probably not much help, but I've got one male and he lives in a cage by himself :) He doesn't seem lonely ever, as he's in a room with lots of activity during the day, but sometimes I wonder. I feel like I should get him a cagemate because I'll be gone for about 3 months, but I don't know. He'll still be around the rest of my family who love him and give him attention, at least.

All of my budgies have always lived in separate cages but have been kept in the same room. At any one time, I have only ever had three budgies so having three cages to clean wasn't too bad. However, when it was out-of-cage playtime, they all played together. ;)

If he doesn't seem unhappy, then perhaps he would be fine kept as a single bird. I would get him a cagemate if I thought he wouldn't get as much attention, or he seemed lonely. Having said that, I think he would enjoy the company of another budgie, so if you did get one, I think it would be a real treat for him. ;)

Currently I have a male and a female & they do just fine. But at first I had Merry (male) & Pippin (female), then added Misty (female). I think Merry & Pippin both got annoyed by Misty at times, but she was just a baby :P . For the most part, they all got along.

I used to have 19 budgies in my aviary. Katie passed away last month when she was laying her eggs. RIP Katie...I really didn't realize how many males or females I had until Katie became pregnant. She then had two males fighting over her. Once she passed on. I now have 18. 9 males and 9 females and this works out better in one cage. If I have them in little cages, I put them in by mates. It seems to work better this way. I have at times seperated the females and the males to give the females a break from those horny males...and they got along fine. I think it depends on your budgies. But it is not a good idea to put two females together. They do seem ok if it is more than two. I've had four in one cage before and they got along fine.
Here is a picture of my inside aviary. I have it along one wall in my living room. It is 6 ft x 6ft x 2 ft. :budgie: :budgie:
You can also see a close up picture of our aviary on www.pvcplans.com

It would be way better if you'd have as many males as females.
