'ello~!
I'm the epitomy of a 'newbie'. Although I've owned several cockatiels in the past (two which passed on due to our home being accidentally poisoned, pobrecitos) I have never owned a parakeet. Recently, June 3rd, I ventured to PetSmart to buy another lyre-tail molly, and algae eater for my 10-gallon aquarium (call me a fish enthusiast) and my mother and I completely forgot our train of thought when we came upon the parrot section.
So~..she chose two to take home. I decided to buy my own, and I had my sights set on a beautiful little sky blue and white budgie, but when it came down to it..I realized that I work too much to be able to spend every moment with him/her..so my mother persuaded me to buy another, a normal sky blue. So here we are, two fish, and four budgies to add to the family.
I'm pretty well-versed in all things animal--whether birds, dogs, horses--I also work at Williamston Veterinary Hospital in North Carolina..so I'm not a novice when it comes to any creature..though I'm still new with my babies. I've now taken on the task of training and raising my mother's birds because..well..>>..I'm the animal lover in the household. Three of the four are too young to sex, though one (my normal blue w/ a pale blue cere) is a male, and he's currently going through his first molt~! This also means he's roughly 4 months old.
I'm looking forward to sharing them with all of the members of this forum, and I hope to find a nice little nest here..:D

Left to right: my two are Silas - normal blue, and no name - recessive pied..my mother's two are Playa (Spanish for 'pool') - opaline; and Ice/no name - albino.
I haven't decided on my pied, because out of the four, this one is the sweetest. I've had them a week, and he/she is already the most gentle. Not only that, he/she is beginning to mimick the sounds I make (I speak to them constantly). The pied also loves to 'growl' when I play my rock music, or just look away from the cage/sleep! I have to choose a special name for that one, and Silas is molting..so he's a bit irritable, but lively nonetheless.
The albino has no decided name, either, my mother is thinking on it..and Playa (plah-ya) is very serene, an equal contrast to the albino's feisty, I'll-peel-your-skin-off demeanor.
Wish me luck!
