Two Male Budgies in The Same Cage?

Will they fight? Or, unlike two females, the two males will do just fine and get along well?

It is hard to predict whether or not two budgies will get along. There are factors that will influence the outcome such as age difference, personality/disposition and territorialism. However, having said all of that, chances are that with two male budgies, they will get along, but I would still be prepared to introduce them slowly to each other and only under supervision for the first little while (after the quarantine period of 30-45 days of course). ;)

If you had a male and a female, then there is also the possibility of them mating. This is why I keep my budgie boy Aries and my budgie girl Gracie caged separately (although they do get along very well together and do come out for supervised playtime together on a daily basis).

Two females can also get along well with each other, but they can be more territorial (not always though).

The bottom line is you really need to see how the two individual budgies interact with each other and then judge whether or not they would be able to successfully be caged together. ;)

Hi,
Our quarantine period just ended so Alfie and Indi have been in together now for about a week.
Before putting them in together, we put the 2 cages side by side, touching each other so that they could really check each other out. We also took them out to play together.
They love each other and spend a lot of time "kissing". They do bicker a lot, too. Alfie is a little bit dominant and picks fights with Indi. He's actually smaller than Indi. I'm just glad Indi is not the aggessive one because we'd have trouble!
I would just recommend having the cages close and observing. I kept the old cage nearby for a few days in case we had a crisis but we didn't (thank goodness).
They're much happier together and if I take one out of the cage and bring him into another room, they call to each other!
