Chalky will not touch anything healthy at all! she use to even be scared of veg and run to the other side of the cage! Ive tried everything, even breaking tiny bits off and feeding it to her when im feeding her seed but still no such luck! she nibbled the tiniest bit of carrot once and that was it! She LOVES toast but i dont give her it all the time, she eats her seed and she nibbles her mineral block. What else can i try or any suggestions on what i couls give her?

just keep offering different bits in a seperate bowl, im sure curiousity might get the better of chalky. Mine dont like much but lettuce and dandelions i pick in the garden and the only way they eat them is if i put the leaves in a bowl with a little water :)

Try putting a mirror in behind the veggies you are offering. When a budige sees a fellow budgie checking out the veggies, they are more likely to actually try them out for themselves. Kinda fools them into believing another budgie is eating the veggies...

LOL, I will have to try that with casper & jasper. They won't eat veggies or fruits either.

I've had these problems as well and the best way is to keep trying. Take away their seeds for about 3 hours and replace it with greens, they'll be hungry and out of common sense they'll have to eat something and if they dont and then give them their seeds back and try again the next day. They dont have to eat fruits and vegetables but it would be healthy for them if they did, so dont stress out about them not eating greens they'll be okay without them. These things should be a treat to them rather than a diet. I know for a fact they love chopped carrots so try giving them this for a few days before you move on to something else.

I have been trying to get Kiki to eat fruits and veggies for months now with absolutely no luck. I tried this last night and it worked wonders! She actually was eating! Thanks for that advice! :D

Try offering it in different ways. :) You'll probably have most luck with things like lettuce and celery at first. Even though they aren't the most nutritional things for her they're better than nothing and a good introduction to new foods. Try pegging the veggies to the cage bars, hanging them from the cage roof, stringing them on a skewer, grating them, dicing them, slicing them....you get the idea! I'm sure you'll find something Chalky will try. Once she's tried one new food i think you'll find she'll be willing to try more.

Kiki has fallen in love with spinach leaves! She is not eating them without the mirror and even when I just place them in her food dish! :)
