I live in san deigo california and the temp around here is quiet mild. about 5 days a year it gets above 100. and about 10 days a year it get to freezing. I built a large bird cage for my budgies cause im awsome like that and i want to keep it outside what are the ideal temps for budgies. The cage is about 5 feet tall 3 feet wide and about 6 feet long i figure its big enough for my 3 birds plus sum.
Usually room temperature is fine (70-72 degrees F).

That's really cool to be handy with building stuff like that! And not to mention, it must be nice to live in a temperate climate.
Generally speaking, budgies are pretty resilient birds and can tolerate temperatures as low as 55 degrees Fahrenheit (or about 13 degrees Celsius); not that I would recommend keeping them in that temperature, nor would I recommend keeping them in a place where the temperature flucutates widely. Drastic temperature changes in a short period of time are not good! It has been said that as long as the temperature drops slowly over a period of several hours, they can be fine. However, my feeling is that you want them to be comfortable all the time, which would typically be a pretty consistent temperature of about 68 - 72 degrees Fahrenheit. (I would certainly bring your budgies inside when the temperature is going to drop below 60 degrees Fahrenheit).
I am sure you are already aware that when your budgies are outside in the cage, you will need to make sure they have some protection from the sun, wind, rain and of course predators. Your budgies will need to feel secure no matter where they are if you want them to be healthy and happy.
My budgies (except Blinkie) live outdoors in an aviary and in the winter they have to put up with below 0C over night and sometimes as low as about 12C during the day. In the summer it's worse for them because sometimes it gets as high as 40C!! In the wild budgies live in an area where the climate varies greatly so i find that as long as the change in temperature isn't instant they can handle it easily. For the winter it's a good idea to have some plastic sheeting or something to cover your aviary with to keep wind and rain from getting to them, also on really hot days you can mist them with the hose to make them more comfortable. :)

K maybe i will build the cage and bring it into one of the spair bedrooms. Atleast then they will have a nice big cage and still have a controlled temp. I get the wood for the cage and its going to be 7 feet long 4 feet wide and 5 feet tall then they can get a good work out if i cant play with them
All this talk about aviaries makes me want to have one. Maybe some day I will.
