That's neat. I really like that stand too. I already bought a cage though. Mine is 22.5x20x30 so it's taller than it is long but it looks nice and roomy :)

Yeah I am definately going to still build one, I just decided. I need to get full specs on that one that was posted in my selfmade cages post. But atleast I will able to use these ones for later down the road. Plus it is a great deal. I am bad about splurging. That site is the place to go for cages though from what I see.

Flight cages. All in the users point of view. :)

These cages are what "we" call cheep stock cages. Some use them as breeding units. I use this model to hold 10 - 15 show birds as a transport/resting cage in my hotel room when we are at an in state, away show. I always feel like they are going to pull apart/break when I pick them up.

To me a flight is a walk in cage where a bird can really work out it's flight mussels.

How would this be for finches?

Yeah definately I understand that. Trust me if you see what I want to construct those are by far definately not flight cages. But they will make it nice to keep them seperated when I am breeding and to put the chicks. I will construct a mother of a flight cage, it will be a walk in for sure! :D

kerry ALL cage web ts use the term "flight/breeder" cage. I dont appreciate the "we call them cheep" cages, (sounds pretty conceited) as i've had mine for a few years and the serve the job quite well. Many members have commented on them, but we couldnt get them singly before, only by 3 or 4 (as i have) for the price, its a great deal.

i call an aviary, an aviary, not a flight

BUUZBEE I find it strange that you are ruffled, even the title of YOUR post is "Cheep Flight Cages." They are just that. They are inexpensive/cheep to purchase and they are manufactured inexpensively/cheeply using a lighter gauge wire. This lighter gauge wire is not stiff so when the cage is picked up the top bows. This makes them a lesser quality than say King Cages or Prevue Hendryx cages. There is nothing "conceited" about a factual description. When talking to others about these units, this description lets them know what exactly what cages one means. I have stated that I too own several of these and I have found them function as well. I know others that have a breeding room full of them. That still does not alter my unease as I pick them up when they are full of birds and the top bows.

An aviary CAN be a flight pen. An aviary is a a place that houses birds, that keeps them confined. An aviary can also be a building that has flight pens in it.

My title was cheep as in price not cheep as in made. With the amount of young members on this forum, they are always looking for cheeply priced cages. The way your reply came off to me was rude. The thread was simply to let members know that the cages i use are now sold seperatly. Negative comments were not needed, nor appreciated. Now, today is my happy day so I have no intention of arguing with you.

Wow thats a great deal! it would be in American dollars, so it would be a bit more expensive for me...but it would be like over $100 in a store.

I have 2 lovies, a tiel, and 3 budgies coming after I get back from vacation  and thats on top of my 2 budgies, 1 sennie, 1 demerara conure and 1 handicapped foster gcc.

I need a stacker because my bedroom (AKA bird room, has all birds except my budgies, honestly like the only thing that isn't for birds in it is my bed) has enough space to cram 3 more cages in, and with a stacker I think I'll put the lovies in the bottum and the tiel in the top. Then I'll have a space for another cage incase the birdies need to be seperated for whatever reason.

I will definately check those out! Thanks buuzbee!

your welcome! they will be good for the lovies and budgies. dont know about the tiel. too small for a conure in my opinion, so probably not for a 'tiel. bea used to have one similar, so she can probably advice more on the tiels (i've never had one!)

this pic will give you a good idea of the size, 2 budgies inside.

hmm, yes that does look a bit too small for a tiel..I've never had one before either. I guess Pumpkin (what I'm calling the tiel if she doesn't already have a name) will go beside Marvin. I'll get a cage from the rescue. Sam & Peaches (lovies) can have the bottum and Missy, Bluebell & Beauregard (budgies) can have the top then.

BUUZBEE to publicly say my response was conceited and now rude, then expect the topic to be drop would not be realistic. I meant the word “cheep” in EVERY context/definition there is for it. It is your perception that my use must be negative. These cages are what they are... light gauged wire units that are inexpensively manufactured. It’s great - wonderful even, that one no longer has to buy a case of these cages to get the price break. It’s odd to post helpful information on a public board and not want those contemplating this purchase and might not be familiar with this equipment to know more before they took the plunge. The lighter gauge wire might not be a problem for many bird owners (fiches and budgies), but for those who own birds with stronger beaks, easily pinched wires could lead to head getting caught and broken necks. :crying2:

Enjoy your happy day.

Kerry

These cages are lovely; for small birds. I'd never get one, for, say, Charlie. As a short travel cage, possibly. But, for budgies, they are great! I purchased one for breeding. If I ever expand, I may get more.

They ARE cheaply manufactured and sold, thus, for low prices. But, for small birds, they are excellent. Big birds, big no no.

Let's all be peaceful, now, okies? :twothumbs:

I do love these cages for budgie breeding. It has held up suberbly well, though at times, I have to get out the pliers and pop a wire back into place. The front sometimes starts to go back if I am too rough. Otherwise, budgies, finches, lovies, p'lets, ect work well in these cages. It just depends on the bird in them... Hey BUUZ, have you gotten your new cages yet?

This IS a budgie forum NOT a parrot forum! people looking for parrot cages shouldnt be looking for advice on cages here. These cages are NOT made for transporting birds (as you do) so they DONT need to be sturdy like a parrot cage. For an inexpensive cage that has good dimensions for a pair of budgies, they serve the job VERY well. I created this thread for people to have a link to a nice cheeply priced cage, NOTHING more. sorry, but i'm always thruthfull with my replies, I did find your reply negative and the "we" part conceited. The way the "we" was posted made it seem like the "show" breeders were on a higher pedistol that the rest of us pleasure breeders. Thats the way I felt!

I have mine in the stand so i've never had that problem, i roll them everywhere. If your not rough with them, and keep them on one table, they will be fine. They are great for a quarantine cage too.

The new cages should have been delivered today, but as of now, fedex doesnt show them delivered yet :(
