I haven't heard back from the vet yet. When I brought Ross in yesterday she said by the looks of things it could be one of three things: malnourishment, bacterial infection, or liver failure. If it were the first two the feeding tube and antibiotics would have saved him so she said she'd try to open him up first chance she got to take a look at his liver. She also said to take the others in at the first sign of odd behavior. Chandler's the thinnest right now but Daisy's the quietest. Usually she spends the day inside her nest box but as soon as she hears her name she crawls out and says hello. she didn't this morning. I have a horrid feeling that she's going to be next.

Saddly, you could have had a bad batch of seed with mold spores in it. And they could have been eating months ago. I had 3 die within days, after the necropsy results came back, that was the COD. It only takes a tiny bit (that they eye cant see) to contaminate an entire bag. I really hope you dont loose anymore.

I'm so sorry about Ross. I sure hope you don't lose any more Budgies. It's scary to think that an innocent thing like bad bird seed could cause a death. I know nothing has been proven to say that the cause of death was bad bird seed, but with Buuzbee having it happen, it just goes to show that we can do everything right and something can still go wrong. My thoughts are with you.

The vet called me earlier today saying Ross did have an enlarged liver. She wants the others put on antibiotics to fight off any infection they may have.

I'm glad your getting the others treated too if they show signs of problems. At least you know the reason now. It is always hard to lose a pet budgie no matter how long you had them.

BuuzBee, how do you tell if you have a bad batch of bird seed? I hope the only way is not after you lose your budgie? Is there anyway to tell? :budgie: :budgie:

That is awful. I feel for you. Please keep us posted and tell us if the rest of your budgies are okay. I hope so. Losing a pet is awful, so I hope the rest are okay. They may act a little odd because they miss Ross. I hope it's nothing more harmful than that.
