i just got my budgie yesterday. Not from a pet store...a breeder. He's not hand fed. And he is sitting on my shoulder right now. It's been 30 min and he hasn't moved. I've reached my hand up to pet him, and he lets me. He even got onto my finger. I'm in total awe right now. He's playing in my hair and chewing on my earrings. Is that normal, or is he really really attached to me. And one more thing, are budgies curious birds?? Because my lovebird was sooo curious. And he got into everything. I'm really hoping they are, cause that is soooo much fun!!! Please write back to me. And if possible, leave some tips for training!!! Thank you soooo much!!!!

Green used to love playing with my earrings! Just don't let him swallow anything by the way. I think it is pretty normal, he is just getting used to you! And budgies are very curious birds!! They love checking out new things!

Your bird sounds like he or she is already totally tame! :D:D that's great! ^_^ And yes, VERY CURIOUS birds...my last budgie was a bit too curious of our cat, we're only lucky he was a wimp and was afraid of her.

Make sure you capitalize on this early tameness and be consistent with your little fellow. Doing several "training" sessions daily (anywhere from 3-6) would be ideal, lasting as long as your budgie seems to be able to handle.

Yes, budgies can be very curious birds. Some more than others. My budgie Skyla for example is the queen at checking out new things. Kiwi and Aries will often only check out those new things after they have seen Skyla doing it. :p

Sounds like a healthy bird to me, it would normally take you months to tame a bird that way. That cuts you months of work right there, just dont let it lose its tameness by putting it with birds you'd buy from a pet store.

i've gotten Bugs to be attached to me but for some reason once he spots his cage off he goes. All four of my birds are sitting on top of their cages some sleeping some listening and chirping to the music I have on. Dude, you have to love it when they yawn.

Thank you, for the past month all i've been doing is taking care of them. I baught Sessy and Bugsy for my little sister for her birthday but she was afraid so im holding onto them until I get them tamed enough so she can hold them. How I got them in that order i dont know because the two green ones are close & the yellow and blue ones are close almost inseperable. But Bugsy is always my favorite little buddy, as you can see from my Avatar he's the more tame one.
