Okay, both Budgie and Squeeky are spending most of their time hunting for nest sites. Behaviour I wish to discourage because of its destructiveness and I don't want breeding.
Anyway, I have this large bookcase full of books and various things, boxes, etc. I don't want my books or anything else shredded. I have tried putting cardboard ove the front, they either chew off enough of the edges to get in or find a way around it. I put boxes on top up to the ceiling and hung a sheet so it was pretty much floor to ceiling, I stacked the boxes so they were overhanging, they still found a way in.
Today I bought a tension rod putting it right up against the ceiling and putting a sheet over it. My husband gives them 2 hours tops to find a way around it. :) I may have to give in and just move the whole thing elsewhere in the house. I am sure they will find somewhere else to destroy, sighh!
If that doesn't work, the real plan for the rod was to hang something across the hall leading to the front door so they can't accidently fly out when we go in or out, at least they can't fly through it, :)
