This is dedicated to all those people who have loss their beloved feathered friends.
:budgie: Rainbow Bridge :budgie:
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I actually have. As a matter of fact when my family's beagle was dying of rat poisoning in 2004, I stayed up all night taking care of her, around four in the morning I fell asleep, she died at four thirty and about that time I had a dream about her coming up to me and taking a piece of bread from my hands. I was delighted that she was eating. She licked my face after eating the bread and trotted out of the room. I almost sure she stopped in on her way to heaven to say goodbye and to tell me not to worry about her anymore. She looked entirely well in my dream. I woke up at five o five and my sister and mother were crying because they had just seen her die. I had something like this happen with Reepicheep my parakeet too, but that will make this post too long and I was so young that I can hardly remember that dream.

Yep, I'm crying with everyone else now. I've lost so many pets, I've always had a lot of pet living with me, and it doesn't matter if they died last month, or six years ago, thinking of them, and remember good times, will almost always make me cry.
It's good to have something like Rainbow Bridge to think about after you've lost one of your beloved babies. Thank you Cherokee for submitting this. You've just made losing a dear pet just a little bit easier for some of us. You deserve a big hug. (((((Cherokee)))))

I have a copy of this, but it's a little different, it's a rhyme. Here it is:
The Rainbow Bridge
Inspired by a Norse legend
By the edge of a wood, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.
They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

Not long ago we lost Blue due to illness which was very sad. A short time ago we lost Snowball. I kept saying at least they're together again. And now I know where they went.

The story of Rainbow Bridge is known around the world. It gets a lot of people through that sad and lonely time. Everyone cries when they read it. But there is somehow strange comfort in believing that one day they will be reunited with their little ones that have gone on. We'll never forget them.

I liked reading the story about rainbow Bridge. I have a couple birds that it made me think of. One budgies lived for 13 years, and just passed away after only being ill overnight. Probably from old age. The other budgie, I guess his luck ran out. He had 2 different mates that he out lived, And I was able to get him good vet care that saved his life twice. The third time, even with vet care from 2 different places, his luck ran out. I think of those 2 birds still at times.

ROCKY THE RINGNECK- your buddies miss you.We miss you.Your little spots, your destructed areas, all haunt us with your memory, sometimes I swear I still see the swing sway as if you were on it...
