My keets wings were clipped when I got him and I've had him for about a month or so, so i was just wondering how long until his wings grow back and I gotta get them clipped again? thanks!

Hi! Some of the feathers should grow back during it's first moult (juvenile moult), but it might take several moults for all the feathers to come back. Perhaps up to a year. Hope that helps! :)

Yes, mindy's right. The bird has a molt every few months, and thats when it loses its feathers and they are replaced by new ones. (your bird should not have bald patches during a molt however)

Good luck with your bird.

Hey thanks for asking that question I was wondering the same thing but I don't think I am going to re clip mine. As Sky and Petrie can fly but can't go higher than middle of the room they don't have enough lift yet but I want them to all be able to fly I think its good for them to get the exercise. But I do understand wanting to keep them clipped. I guess the reason I have decided that I won't clip again is seeing how happy they seem to be flying accross the room and then Ducky and Jessie just stay up on the cage and you can tell they want to sometimes they try and just go to the floor and I have to help them back up. So anyways thanks for the question.

It depends on everything from the health of the bird to the weather and enviroment. A bird can molt at different times, different amounts throughout the year.

It took a year for Sugar's flight feathers to grow back. It is a joy to watch him fly and he loves it. (He is still learning how to land) I will never clip him again.

Our budgies, particularly Aries, seem to start growing flight feathers almost as soon as they have them clipped! It's like their body knows they are missing and grows them back seemingly immediately! :p

I am debating whether or not to clip Gizmo when they grow back, but judging by your answers I have a while thank goodness! I love watching him climb up my blanket to get on my bed with me...its so cute! I don't know...we'll see. Thanks for answering!

I'ld give him a while once they grow back to see how he does. You could always give him a baby trim, which is when you clip only a few feathers and they can still fly, but not as high as usual:)
