Our first budgie when my daughter was young was from a breeder. He was called Billy, was lilac in colour and was very tame. He talked all the time and would come and sit on your shoulder and nibble your ear. He flew all around the room and loved to be out of his cage. When we were at work and the children were at school we used to leave his cage open for him to come and go as he pleased. I often used to find little pieces of paper lying around under the window sill. I couldn't think where they were coming from. Then one night we saw him sitting on the curtain rail and realised he was pecking off the wallpaper!!! He had nibbled all the way along. That was the end of the cage being open when we were out. He was 8 when he died. He had a stroke and was a poor wee thing but he didn't last long, sadly.

The next budgie was Bobby. He was grey and had a funny beak - the bottom came over the top. At first I thought he couldn't eat but he managed fine. We had him for a while then got Bonnie as his companion. She was a yellow albino with red eyes. Bobby died when he was 8. He was fine then one day he was dead. Bonnie pined so we got Bluey. Bonnie had a tumour on her back. The first time when the vet was looking at it he knocked it off. It was fine for years then grew back. Sadly nothing could be done and she was put to sleep. Bluey is the bird we have now. He is a noisy boy of blue and yellow

:) i love budgies called billy thats my sons name and it makes him so cross !! thanks for sharing you budgie stories with us .

how old is bluey ? does he miss his companion ?

Bluey is 7. He missed Bonnie at first and was looking for her but he is fine on his own now.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us your stories about your budgies. I loved reading about them. It sounds like Billy was a very busy budgie.

Not at the moment. maybe when Bluey passes we will get 2
