My sunny is gone

So about 3 weeks ago, I bought a new keet, he was bright yellow with green accents, so I named him Sunny. He was hand tamed already, so I could hold him perched on my hand and he liked to snuggle in my hair...one of my cats knocked over his cage while I was out (the cat didn't bite him or scratch him) and he must have banged his head pretty badly b/c later the next day he died. He was eating and pooping, so I thought nothing was wrong, he seemed a little shellshocked but otherwise fine. But I knew something was wrong after he started falling off his perch, at midnite last nite. He died in my husband's hands an hour later. He and I cried for an hour. I'm so sad, and we had always been so careful about keeping the cages out of harm's way and my cat's way, he just turned in to an acrobat. I want to be mad at the cat...but I can't b/c it's in his nature to leap and bound and knock things over. It's my fault for having a cat and birds. I don't know if I'll ever forgive myself. I am so sorry for your loss of Sunny. Your budgie sounds alot like mine who passed away two years ago. The coloring and all. His name was Sunny too

Aw, that's really sad and so sorry to hear it. It's amazing how attached you get to them, I've lost two in the last few weeks and have shed a fair few tears. Don't blame yourself, accidents happen.

I am so sorry to hear of your tragic incident. We all try so hard to protect the little animals in our lives, but accidents still happen.

It's not your fault, please don't blame yourself - you are going through enough right now without making yourself feel worse. Unfortunately, accidents happen.

Just cherish all the memories you had with Sunny. I lost my beloved budgie, Baby, of nine years nearly a month ago and recalling all the great times and memories I have of her makes each day a little easier. I hope you can do the same.

I'm so sorry about Sunny. We just had to put our 10 y/o beagle to sleep last week after a lengthy illness. :crying2:
We always feel guilty when a pet dies, whether through illness or accident. There's always the "If only I had....(fill in the blank)" The truth is, sometimes things just happen and you can only do the best you can do. :(
