if i decide to breed my budgies will they not be tame anymore? and if i do anyways i want to leave it to the female to rear the young untill they are a bit older ill take them from the mother and if decide to breed again ill take the eggs and replace them with artificial ones. but would they still breed if i just took the nestbox away? but the main question is if i breed them will they not be tamed anymore? and if they arnt is it possible to train them over again?

Well everyone says that they lose tameness but many of the breeders and I know that they are just aggresive towards you because they are defending thier nest....You cannot let teh female rear teh baies by herself with out the male noooooo way if taht is what you ment?:(

Corona, I had the same question about this, since I am hoping on breeding my budgies in like a year and a half (so long from now XD). Anyway, I was told that many people say that this happens, but usually, once the hormones calm down after the process is all over with and the babies and gone, their normal tameness and personality will return. another thought would beto separate them for a while after the babies are gone and make sure they are bonded to you. ^.^

no when i ment leave the young to the mother to rear i ment BOTH of them. i thought that after they are done breeding and i take the young away if i took out the nest or put fake eggs in they would stop breeding.

yes, they will stop breeding most likely. But they also, once you take the yong and nest box away, will have their hormones calm down and they will become tame once again.

i think ill try to breed my pair then. ive had them for 13 months and when i got them they were within their first shedding (didnt shed till a month later) thats a good age to get them to breed right?

yes that's perfect. Both budgies should be at least a year old but no older than 4 or so for a female and 5 or so for a male. So you're perfect! ^_~ Currently, I have a female and (hopefully male) baby, if he turns out to be a male, then in about a year or so I plan on breeding them...she'll be 3 and a half and he'll be 1 and a half. Good luck! :)
