Well I was thinking about stuff. We think my new little budgie is a male, because the place we got him from told us they think he's a male, and I'm starting to have doubts because of certain appearance things.....ANYWAY, if Pidgey does turn out to be a male, in about a year and a half (when he's old enough and summer for me is over since there's soo many vacations i go on) I was thinking about breeding him with Willow. (I know, this is FARRR off, but I want to know things) One of my questions is, would these be appropriate ages: Willow at that time will be about a 3 and a quarter years old, and Pidgey wil be a year and a half old. Also, is it true that if you breed two tame birds, they will no longer be tame? :( And also, when and if (assuming Pidgey is a male XD...) I do breed them, I would probably only be able to keep one of the babies, and I'm not really sure what I would do with the others really....any suggestions? (so many questions!!) One more: Can a baby budgie live in the same cage its parents live in?

Well, I don't have any personal experience breeding budgies, but I can tell you that it is more likely that your tame budgies won't be so tame when they are breeding. They become more focussed on each other rather than on you as their flock master.
I am pretty sure that those ages would be fine. A year and a half is definitely old enough to start breeding, and I believe that 3 is fine too.
As far as what to do with the babies, that can be a toughie. Anyone have any ideas on this one?

But after the breeding is over and I keep up their training will they bcome tame again? And yeah, anyone have ideas on the whole thing with what to to with babies and if one can live with its parents?

You could try and sell them, give them away to friends that will take care of them properly, or maybe even give them to a breeder near you for free or something so they can sell them. You could also sell them to a responsible pet store.

Thanks for all the ideas guys, but the one question still remains that can a budgie live in the same cage as its parents do? (oh plus, if anyone has comments on if I'd be able to retame them, PLEASE PLEASE post)

if i were you, dont breed unless you are certain you can find great homes for them. its easy to say you will sell them, but i guarantee you will fall in love with them, and when someone shows up to buy them with a tiny cage and smoking, you wont know what to do!
plus its not a case of when to get rid of them, but the many problems that can arise when they are tiny little bubs! from splayed legs to what to do if there is an air bubble in the crop.
what if mom & dad dont feed them, are you ready to incubate them and feed them around the clock?
it is a very big thing to take on, but fortunatly, you have PLENTY of time, get yourself lots of book on breeding, and you will be very educated by the time you decide to.
just so you know, i have EVERY one of the babies i have bred, i couldnt part with them! but, the eggs i have now, my sister wants 2, they will be the first i have parted with! lol
as for them being tame after, i am guessing here, but usually with budgies, when their hormones cool down, they usually have the same personalities.
and yes, you can keep baby with the parents, things may change when the baby gets mature depending on the sex, but you can handle that later :-)
ok, im done rambling on here!

So they're usually tame once again? :D:D Yay!! But yes, I do have plenty of time (a year and a half almost XD) and I'm not even sure if this baby is a boy yet! but if he is, thanks so much for all the info, and I'll be sure to get lots of books!
