My Male Is In The NestBox!

my male budgie Blue has been sitting in teh nest box for 20 minutes making teh mating call!The female just sat outside!:eek: :S :eek: What si going on with this pair they must be budgies from a different planet!:mad: :rolleyes:

The male's usually go in the nest box. Reasons they go in the nest box are: hiding, mating, feeding the hen, helping to incubate eggs, feeding chicks, etc.

Nope no eggs or chicks no big poops just MATING CALLS day and night!and FEEDING!

I wouldn't leave a nest box in there because it speeds up their hormonal activities, meaning they'll want to mate even when they're too young or the male will want to mate while the female does not want to or is not in "season". Make sure they have a lot of cuttlebone before you decide you want to mate them, and make sure you know what you're doing because its not just mate, have babies, they'll feed them, and when they're old enough ill take care of them. You have to be dedicated and you must know what you're getting yourself into or either the mother or her babies will die. Also the female can be territorial and can sometimes kill the male so please read and know what your getting yourself into before you start turning them into baby making machines.
