Hi
I have a dilema with my budgies, my partner can't stand them in the house (i had them before we moved in together).
They are currently in the spare bedroom, but he still moans that they make too much noise, so I was thinking about building an outside avairy for them.
Has anyone done this ? got any advice ?
Thanks

I think outdoor avairies if done right are great for breeder birds but not for pets. How much time would you spend with your birds if they are outside?
Get ear plugs for the partner. Get a partner that loves you and your extended family. Try hanging some pretty quilts on the wall to cut back the sound. Plants also help.
Keep in mind they were there first and well be there when said partner is gone.
I remember once getting a call about a dog not liking the girlfriend could I take said dog. Then three months later I get a call saying they sure were glad I talked them into keeping dog cause girlfriend was history.
Just food for thought.

I'm with you Angie,if put outside you really want spend Lot of time with them, poor babies.Mines make noise and I don't care who hears them,my family are always saying my birds make to much noise,what-ever-go home:) ,this is their home and they can make as much noise as the like.My hubby is sick and go to dialysis 3 days a week and he sleeps a lot now,so they wanted me to get rid of my babies told no way,my hubby loves them too,and says they are not stopping him from sleeping one bit.

I agree with the others it would depend on were you live how cold it gets where you are,
I can relate though I have one female that chirps and screeches all day long and we have tried many things with her none of which work, the hubby is not that much of a bird person but he knows better then to say anything or he would be the first one out the door :D

I have to agree with the others who posted here
Are your birds reallly reallly unbearablly loud? if so you should try all other methods like covering the cages and etc at first before considering an outside aviary.
And even if you do, would your neighbors mind the noises? the last thing you want is someone complaining about them being on the outside.
If your hubby just doesn't like birds and want them out of the house, thats not a good enough excuse to put these poor creatures who depend on you to take care of them outside unless you are willing to go through the trouble of building them a foolproof aviary, think of all the supplies and eqquipment you'll need, not to mention you will have to worry about predators such as rats, other birds, racoons and cats.
