To sprout seeds you will need:
-high quality seed
-glass jar
-piece of stocking

You put some seed in the jar and then cover the opening with the piece of stocking. Rinse the seeds with water and then tip the jar up to drain any left over water. Leave the jar on a slight angle in a dry spot. Rinse the seeds a few times daily to stop them going stinky. If they start to smell throw them out. They should start to sprout after 2-3 days. :)

:laughing2: Budgie grew seeds once! It was the funniest thing. We started calling her Farmer Budge! I guess there were some unopened seeds or something at the bottom of the cage underneath the water container. (I think it was millet.) For days she was throwing water on the seeds, and they started sprouting! That was funny.

Hey, if she could do it, I'm sure you can do it too. :D

Lol that is pretty funny Dave. :p I stuck some seeds in some water overnight to let them soak, then I put them on a plate with papertowel on top. (Wetpaper towel) Then I put them near the sun, on a windowledge. They grew quite well. :) Acctually Dave your story reminds me of my sisters Chinese water dragon. She put some seed into the tank to see if it would grow, well it grew, and it was over four inches long!!

What I would do is get a white foam cup, poke a few small holes on the borrom, fill it with paper towels with the seeds in between the wrappings of the paper. Water is but dont soak it and just watch it grow in the sun.

ive done that same thing before i got kinda lazy to throw the seed hulls away and of course there was a bit of unopened seeds and i just poured them into the soil outside, and like a week like i had a bunch of sprouts 4-5inches long. my question is what do you do with it? do you feed it to the budgies or something?

Yes you can feed it to your budgies. I've never tried, but I am pretty darn curious to see if my budgies would eat the sprouts.

That's something we should experiment on, lets give it a try Budgiekin.

It's a deal Smoothy. I'll try sprouting some seeds and then offering it to my little sweeties. You do the same and let me know how it goes. :D

Mine love bean sprouts. If we bring home chinese food we rinse and dry a few of the sprouts and feed them to the birds.

i started to try to grow some seeds 2 days ago, i just put seeds in a wraped papertowel and put it in a ziplock bag and taped it to the window for sun. and right now its been 2.5days and theres roots on some and theres a few sprouts already.

I just placed some wet paper towels in the bags and dumped some millet seed that had fallen off inside the bag, going to see if anything happens.
