I wasn't able to access the internet for one day because of a busy schedule with work and other plans and unfortunately, that happened to be the day that members were able to vote for budgie of the month. Is it possible to have a longer voting period in future months? I was dissapointed that I wasn't even able to see anyone elses entries, which I've been looking forward to ever since I became a member and tried to bring "Budgie of the Month" back.
Also, is there any way to see the entries for Junes "Budgie of the Month"? I sure would like to see the pictures and descriptions that people worked so hard on. Thanks for your consideration. :)

That is really dissapointing... Is it just the administrators that are able to view the submissions and vote? That's too bad. I thought for sure that members also got to participate in the voting process.
If the administrators get to submit their budgie's picture and description for "Budgie of the Month", and get to vote as well, shouldn't members also have both privaleges?
Awe... and I was looking forward to looking at everyone's photos and descriptions for a long time...
Members don't get to vote in the BOTM contest. You were probably thinking of our caption contests, which are very similar. Those are the ones members get to vote in.

Did members ever get the chance to view the submissions?

I think it would be really nice to have members vote for the budgie of the month. They really seemed to enjoy it for the caption contest we held a little while ago. That way, everyone can see the entries too. What do you think Dave? I think we should seriously consider this....;)
The only thing I don't like with member voting is that I notice that the candidates who don't get as many votes tend to want to withdraw from the contest and just in general those who get less votes tend to feel negative toward the contest. By staying with the current format, all that tension doesn't exist. That's just my opinion.

I understand your point Dave and I can respect that. But in the current format, only one person makes the decision and don't we want more member participation?

What if members voted and then you could pick from the top 3 or 5? Or could members vote but not see the results until it is over? At the very least, I think it would be nice if members could see all the entries. I love pictures and I bet there were some really cute ones. I loved the June winner .BTW

I think that it would be great to allow members to vote and view submissions. Without member voting or viewing of submissions, it doesn't seem as special to me or meaningful. Also, even if some people didn't get as many votes, it would give them the opportunity to view other submissions and gain ideas for how they can write descriptions or come up with different picture ideas for the next month. Withdrawing from the competition because of low votes seems like it would be poinless because it would be completely defeating the purpose of the contest.
I hope everyone understands my point of view!! It would just be much more personal and fun if everyone can contribute in the voting process and view the submissions that members work so hard on. I was really upset that I didn't get to see everyone's hard work!!

I think it should stay the way it is because if they change it to member voting i believe that the people who have more "friends" here would win more often and that is not fair to the people who have just started out in the group...
