Since I just found out I have two females instead of a male and female, I am trying to get more info on females..... I have read that females aare less likely to talk than males? Kiko, my beautiful English budgie seemsto have a very outgoing personality and immitates my whistles easily. Is there any truth to the females not talking as much?I would love to hear from people who actually have talking female budgies. That would be great! :)

Actually, I just read your stuff on teaching your budgie to talk... good info.Iwould hate to separate the females from each other though as they are very good friends, but I think it would ultimately help them to talk. hmmmmmmmmmm...:)great article

The reason males make better talkers is because they naturally have a wider range of sounds they can make (i think for mating calls, etc). Females can talk but often can't say as much as males or say things as clearly. How old are your budgies? As the best and most effective time to teach a budgie to talk is while they're very young i would think that it'd be unfair to your budgies to separate them to teach them to talk as there is a possibility they wouldn't learn and it would be a long long period of time to get them talking well enough to be able to put them back together and still have them talking.

Males can be more vocal but i have 3 female budgies. Greengrass, Chrissie and Camilla. Chrissie is the more talkative out of the bunch, she talks and bobs all of the time. She talks more than my male budgie. Green talks very rarely. And Camilla seems quite quiet too. People do say that males are much more vocal but i think it depends on what your budgie is like.

in general males are more chirpy than females.if you are talking about teaching them to talk then even if you seperate them & manage to achieve it when they are together they will chirp to eachother in budgie talk & not human talk.

My older female wolf whistles if that counts for anything, I know its not talking but its cool. When Petrie was here Ceaser and her would just talk and whistle all day. So females can be vocal too.
