Personally, I'm an athiest. I don't believe in any god or any religious stuff.

Also, seeing as this is a touchy subject, let's not break into a war here over religion. I'm just saying this because things sometimes happen when people sometimes disagree in religions and beliefs. Just warning everyone ahead of time.

i dont believe in religion! well obviously i know it exists, i just dont think it really works, like dave sed it's a touchy subject, especially now. but everyones religion basically seems to say you should be good, kind people and it seems a bit illogical to me that people should fight over believing in basically the same thing!! i think if everyone was just nice to each other the world would be much better :)
hope i didnt offend anyone, i dont want to, but someone once asked me why i bothered trying to be a good person if i didnt believe in god + heaven etc, so i just want to say that you can still be nice for yourself + other people without having to do it for any kind of god. i think that makes sense... it does for me, + sorry for ranting, i just get very wound up about that kind of thing!!!

Yes, just because you don't have a religion doesn't mean you dont have morals. What your friends are saying is ridiculous, if the only reason theyre being nice is to go to heaven. I mean we're humans, and we have feelings.

Hey Amy,

I am just now reading through a lot of the posts in "Chit Chat" and ran across this one. Thanks for being brave enough to ask people about their beliefs. It's the most important thing we'll ever have to face in life and something we will all be held accountable for.

I am a Christian also, but would like to say that it's all about having a personal (ongoing relationship) with Jesus Christ, the Son of God. There is a big difference between religion (which is associated with DOING) and a relationship.

My Father was an alcoholic and I did not grow up in A Christian home. But God totally trasformed my Dad and set him free from a life of alcoholism. And my whole family is now a living testimony of God's goodness and power. God is so good, and I would NEVER want to walk the road of life without Him. :king:

Ah religion, a touchy subject to be sure. :) I would like to point out though that we can neither wish nor believe God into or out of existence. We simply are not that powerful. :)

I am a Penticostal Christian and proud of it!! hehe.. But I beleive anyone can go to heaven just as long as they accept Jesus Christ..But I dont look down on people that dont beleive the same as me. I just pray for them, if they want me to, and hope for the best. But I do cross the line where I wont hang out with people, that drink, cuss, or that do anything bad. Cause I dont want to be classified as that, and I dont want the devil to have room to come in. But I love everyone no diffrent..:D and will hang around them as long as tehre not doing the bad stuff, most the time they respect that and will not do them around me, such as some of my family..But then there is some of my family which is most that are not "religous" and they could care less and they will be so rude and drink and cuss around me, and sense my grandma has passed its gotten worse, but so I just chose not to ever go around them anymore..and its for the best..

Well that is all I have to say..have a good day, and remember to kiss your budgie everyday! :D

I'm a Catholic Christian and just so u people understand how it works! In Christianity there are lots of denominations and all of thes denominations are christian. A few these denominations are Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran, Baptist, Methodist e.t.c. there are many more denominations than this. If you are one of these denominations you are christian.

And Dave is perfectly right Any1 has their right to believe in a religion of some sort or not.

I am too an athiest. I hate how we are sometimes looked down upon, like we're dark or evil or what some people call "Satanists" but we're really not that bad. We athiests are philosiphers, knowing that we ourselves cannot compute the entireness of the universe or its reasons of existence. So we think of properties to make this easier. But, we could be wrong, I'm just stating how we are, well, most of us.

I just received this poem today in an e-mail and I love the way it is worded, so I thought I would share it .

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin'."
I'm whispering "I was lost,
Now I'm found and I'm forgiven."

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
And need His strength to carry on.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
And need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
But, God believes I'm worth it.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
Who received God's good grace, somehow! :)

Wow! Thats a pretty deep peom. Christains are not perfect. In my beliefs the only thing that is perfect is jesus/god.

Donna
09-26-2006, 04:51 AM
Yes Shannon, I totally agree with you, that the only PERFECT one is Jesus/God. The word "Christian" actually means "Little Christ." We are to look to Christ as our example and are to strive to be more like him in our character.

No one is perfect and for some reason people think that Christians are saying they are perfect. That's not it at all. There is nothing we can do or say that will earn our way to heaven. That's why we are saved by His GRACE. :)

I just thought the poem said a lot and that's why I posted it.

Have a great day,
Donna
