Cheeky

Hello All,
Cheeky is very young and her wings are so little and she can’t fly properly. She keeps trying to take off and just ends up flying for a bit (if that’s what you could call it) than hitting the ground with a thud. Should I try and stop her from flying or just let her go? I’m worried she will hurt herself.

Well, it seems as though your little sweetie is still getting used to their wings. Just make sure when you let cheeky out, you provide soft landing spots. But I totally know how you feel when you see your precious flopping down to the floor. My budgie Skyla has only one wing (she had a tumour so we chose to amputate the wing.) She often still tries to fly, but comes down via belly flop onto the carpet. I feel so terrible when I see that happen, but she is always fine. Thank goodness!
So I would just make sure you are providing a soft place to land and encourage your budgie to keep trying to fly. Eventually cheeky's wings should get strong enough to keep flight. Good luck and let us know how your sweetie is doing! ;)
