No, unless it's in a gigantic aviary where there is room for both species to function in their own space it's not safe to house budgies with other species of birds. Either the budgies will be more aggressive than the other species and harm it or the other species will be stronger/more aggressive and harm the budgies. Having said that, it isn't impossible and occasionally you will get 2 birds of different species to bond fantastically but in my opinion it's just not worth the risk. :)

I agree wholeheartedly with Bea on this one. It isn't worth the risk...

At the moment i own two finches - Bubu & Benny - and on some occaisons Green would sit in with them. They were terrified of her and she would become aggresive towards them. Finches + Canaries can live together though...

You can find out in FAQ.

I'd say that the cage would have to be big if you were going to have more than 1 species of birds in it.

Not big, an aviary and a GIANT one.

I think its a bad idea mainly because budgies carry some different sicknesses than other birds, one of the birds may feel threatened because of size differences or one may be terretorial. Different birds have different beak shapes and sizes, so it would be easy for one bird to eat food while the other one is having a diffecult time with it. Their diet is different and you dont want them eating each others food.

Unless you have a humungous cage, I wouldn't take the risk. ;)
