Now what do i do.....

Hello All,

I’m a bit stuck at the moment....

I just got a new budgie; she has been hand reared and is very young. My question now is what do I do? I’m worried about scaring her. Do I leave her alone for awhile to get use to things or do I start straight away? The last budgie I had wasn’t hand reared so I had to start from scratch. Just not sure what the next step is…

Spend quality time with Cheeky every day, this way she will learn not to be scared of you. Start by encouraging her to hop onto your hand, by placing your hand in her cage. Hold your hand right up to her breast. Once you have acheived this, bring her out of her cage. Play with her and talk to her softly. This way Cheeky will gain your trust. Keep us updated!! :p I agree with Kelly27. Spend quality time with your sweetie so he/she can get used to you. Just pay careful attention to how your little sweetie is reacting to you; if your budgie looks nervous, simply back off and give more space. You may wish to consider using millet as a treat sometimes too. Most budgies love the stuff!!
